Don’t despise the place between here and there…God is very intentional about that space. It’s easy to want to rush ahead, but if we can learn to see our seasons of transition the way God sees them, we can move into our next season equipped to handle what’s coming. ——— 📕 This is an excerpt from my new book, “LIMINAL: The Delicate Space Between Breaths” - COMING SOON
A little info on why I’m in Kenya this week. Be sure to follow @becomingloveministries for more info on all that we’re doing and ways you can partner with us 🙏
When God closes the door on our season before asking our permission, it’s easy to get offended. We have unmet expectations that must be dealt with. We had plans for that season, assumptions of how things were supposed to go. And now the closed door is undeniable evidence that those things are not going to happen. In those seasons of transition, we must remember everything He does is good. He knows the end from the beginning. He is sovereign. We can trust His leadership, even when we can’t yet see where He is taking us. ——— 📕 This is an excerpt from my new book, LIMINAL: The Delicate Space Between Breaths - COMING SOON 🎉
It seems a week doesn’t go by without hearing another story of someone who refuses to go to church because of what happened to them at church. Pastoral abuse, spiritual manipulation, leadership failures, scandal, and on and on. So what do we do? We become the authentic expression of the Body of Christ, one refusal-to-quit-on-the-church at a time. My yes + your yes X their yes = transformation in the church Or we can quit the church, say we still love Jesus but can’t stand His people, stay home and wait for more headline stories that reinforce our experience. That equation looks like : My quit + your quit X their quit = modern day Europe I don’t stop eating when I get food poisoning. Did you swear off dating when your middle school crush broke your heart? Ever been in a car accident? That doesn’t keep you from driving. So don’t quit on God’s people. Jesus didn’t. Take the hurt that came from the dysfunction of the people you were among to the Lord, and then choose to become an authentic expression of what it looks like to serve Jesus. Become for someone else what you wish someone would’ve been for you when the church hurt you. “…to Him be glory in the church…” (Eph 3:21)
