Covenant Is Always Before Him

3 Reflections

1. God does not deal with us according to our situation, but according to His covenant. We know what it is to be around unpredictable people. Their instability makes it hard to be at peace. But God is not like that. He’s not reactionary, impulsive, or inconsistent. What He does, He does through the lens of covenant. As Psalm 111:5 says, “He remembers His covenant forever.” He has bound Himself by His own word, and that means His people are not left guessing who He will be tomorrow.
   

2. When life feels uncertain, covenant becomes an anchor. There are seasons when God’s ways are difficult to interpret. Doors close. Prayers seem delayed. The path ahead feels uncertain. In those moments, the temptation is to read God through the lens of our circumstances. But Jesus People interpret their circumstances through the covenant character of God. What He has spoken is more stable than what we currently feel. What He has promised is more trustworthy than what we can presently explain.
   

3. In Christ, we stand before God on covenant ground. The new covenant is not built on our consistency, but on His. Not on our ability to hold ourselves together, but on the finished work of Jesus. God looks at us through the shed blood of His Son. That means the believer’s confidence isn’t found in their own strength. Our confidence is this: God has spoken, and in Christ, God will be faithful to everything He has said.

   Ask yourself:

   Am I interpreting God through my present circumstances, or am I interpreting my circumstances through His covenant faithfulness?

   This week, when uncertainty or disappointment presses in, resist the urge to measure God by what you can presently see. Go back to what He has spoken, anchor yourself again in His promises, and let covenant—not emotion—have the final word.
